Hockey's Original Guidebook Now Online
Hockey fans, players, coaches and officials can turn to a new - yet very old - source for the sport's rules, history and lore. UNH's Charles E. Holt Archives of American Hockey has scanned what may be ice hockey's earliest guidebook (loaned by the U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame) and made it publicly available on the Web for the first time ever.
UVA pays $48K for Poe's ‘juleps' letter?
An article in the Daily Progress suggests that UVA's special collections library plunked down nearly $48,000 for a letter from a defensive Edgar Allan Poe who blamed an incident of his drunken behavior on poet William Ross Wallace who, Poe wrote, "would insist upon the juleps."

Edgar Allan Poe apologizes to his publishers for drinking too much and asks them to buy an article because he's "desperately pushed for money" in an 1842 letter acquired by the University of Virginia for an exhibition marking the author's 200th birthday.
